The Buzz About Stamps
If your library or library support group has ever sent a direct-mail promotion you have surely lamented the cost of printing that special message on the envelope or mailing panel. Our good friends at the U.S.P.S. have a solution to this dilemma in the form of the new "Giving & Sharing: An American Tradition" first-class postage stamp. The stamp, which features an image of a bee pollinating a flower representing the sharing present in a philanthropic act is available now in the 32-cent denomination from the Post Office. Buzz down to the P.O. and pick-up some bees and flowers. Your supporters will be reminded of our tradition of support for good causes all for the cost of postage alone. To help you use this stamp the Philanthropic Service for Institutions (PSI) has prepared a comprehensive kit available online. Here you will find everything you need to know about this stamp and how to use it. The page Direct Mail and Philanthropy is particularly useful for fundraising mailings. But be advised, if you are to take advantage of this opportunity, you must do so before the postal rate increase in January. |
